Atlas x Vans
Record Shop Collection

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Vans Half Cab and the 15th anniversary of Atlas Skateboarding, I had the privilege of collaborating on the Atlas Record Shop collection—a vinyl-inspired capsule that merged skate culture with music, featuring the legendary Ray Barbee. The project honored the rich history and influence both brands hold within skateboarding and beyond.

The collection pulled from the world of vintage vinyl and crate digging, with footwear, apparel, accessories, and packaging echoing that analog nostalgia. Notably, the Half Cab featured a unique vinyl record–inspired texture. The broader lineup included a Slip-On Pro, Era, Krooked deck, t-shirt, tote, and slip mat—a multifaceted tribute to both the Vans legacy and Atlas’ deep roots in skateboarding culture.

My role spanned across footwear design, packaging, event signage and curation, environmental design, zine layout, and sub-branding for Atlas’ 15th anniversary, including the creation of a custom logo. I also designed the vinyl record cover and turntable slip mat, reinforcing the collection’s immersive storytelling.

The project was elevated further through the inclusion of Ray Barbee’s live performance, which added a personal and authentic layer to the experience. As both a skateboarding icon and accomplished musician, Ray’s presence underscored the collection’s deep ties to creativity, culture, and sound—making him the perfect figure to bring this concept to life.

Creative direction was a collaboration with Ryen Motzek, whose vision helped shape the overall aesthetic. The campaign came to life through a beautifully executed video by Justin Albert, featuring Ray Barbee and Tristan Rowean, with an original score by Nick Andre.

Photography played a central role, with visuals captured by Iaju Jnat, Patrick Beaudouin, and a standout portrait of Ray Barbee shot by Anthony Acosta.

The Atlas Record Shop collection not only honored the legacy of the Half Cab, but also paid tribute to Atlas’ pivotal role in skateboarding culture and its lasting impact on the local community.
